Dustin and Doug - Getting Through the First Weekend
Dustin: Still smoke free without any slips. Sorry I haven't blogged the last couple of days. I have been extremely busy, which is exactly what I've needed. The urges are going away, and my routines seem to be changing for the positive. I have been drinking a lot more water, and keeping the hand movements to healthy snacks. Also using the 21 mg patch, and lozenges/gum when needed. I'm trying to lower the amount of nicotine I'm pulling in daily, but not smoking is my main priority today. Tonight at 11:23 pm will be one week!!!!!!!!
Doug: To Dustin: Coming up on a week now. What you are doing I call showmanship. Showing up. Showing off. Showing the way. This is how we make change. People always prefer not to change. It is more comfortable to do what you've always done. This keeps you in familiar territory. You know what to expect. But if you do what you've always done, you get what you've always gotten. To learn and to grow and to improve, we need to look for that different path. We need to try something different. We do not like the unfamiliar. This is an important point. Of course we do not like things we do not know. There are a lot of people I do not like. I am not saying I dislike them. I just have not met them yet, so I have no reason to like them. I liked you right away. Probably because you did not punch me in the face for getting in your face about smoking. This boosted my confidence to do this again. And again. You showed up for Quit Day.You show off with the blog. You show the way for all those people who desperately want to find a way. You are a showman, Dustin Sherman! On with the show.
