The mission of SVHC is to cultivate local solutions and collaborative actions that advance the health and well-being of the Cortland community.
SVHC Winter Challenge Kicks Off January 1st!
The 2025 SVHC Winter Challenge is back by popular demand - and this year it's better than ever! The challenge will run the month of January and will feature prizes from some of our favorite local businesses. More information on how to participate will be arriving in your inboxes on December 30th. You won't want to miss this fun event, so be on the lookout!
SVFR Holiday Distributions
We've had a busy month at SVFR! Throughout this holiday season, SVFR has been fortunate to provide additional food for our partners in the community hosting meals and distributing holiday food boxes. We helped supplement for the YWCA's Kidsgiving dinner, CAPCO's Thanksgiving boxes, as well as our own distribution to each HeadStart and Early HeadStart family in Cortland. Any extra food we've rescued has gone to our partnering food pantries to provide anything additional to our community that we can this season.
Thank you to our donors, volunteers and partners who work with us to make this possible!
The Doula Partnership:
Postpartum Doula Training
The training was funded by Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield.
The Doula Partnership of Cortland County held a postpartum doula training in November. The DONA certified training, led by Jen Chandlee of Luminous Postpartum, helped 14 participants learn how to support people throughout the new journey of parenthood. To learn more about what a postpartum doula does, or to work with a doula, visit www.sevenvalleyshealth.org/doula.
Community Support
We had a great time at Little York Plantation's End of Season Shindig. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported SVHC. A HUGE thanks to the folks at Little York Plantation for hosting the event and donating a portion of the proceeds to our organization. Can't wait for next year!
We are honored to be the recipient of the Donald Guthrie Foundation Community Benefit Grant Award. These funds are earmarked to support the oversight and maintenance of Cortland 2-1-1, a critical health and resource guide for Cortland County. Thank you to the Guthrie Foundation committee for supporting our mission to advance the health and well-being of Cortland County!
