Support Us This Saturday!

Do you love New York maple syrup, pancakes, AND supporting your favorite non-profit? We have the event for you!

SVHC is excited to participate in the 2024 Central New York Maple Festival's Pancake Eating Contest and has sponsored a contestant, Sam Carlton!

SVHC will collect donation pledges for the Pancake Eating Contest. Pledges are based on how many pancakes Sam eats during the contest. In addition to individual pledges, Maple Fest will donate $2 for each pancake Sam eats.

The contest will occur on Saturday, April 13th at 9am at the Marathon High School Auditorium in Marathon, NY.

Bringing Community Together at Cortland Counts 2024

We are thrilled to share the highlights from the recent 2024 Cortland Counts Community Forum, a gathering that exemplified the spirit of unity and collaboration. The event brought together a rich tapestry of voices representing diverse backgrounds and perspectives, fostering thought-provoking discussions and insightful exchanges.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the presenters, panelists, and attendees whose active participation and meaningful contributions made the forum an outstanding success. Your passion, expertise, and dedication truly exemplify the power of community involvement. Throughout the event, we delved into pressing issues, shared valuable experiences, and ignited conversations that will continue to resonate within our community. Your commitment to effecting positive change is inspiring, and we are honored to be part of such a dedicated community.

As we look ahead, we invite you to stay tuned for more opportunities to come together, learn, and grow as we work towards building a stronger, more inclusive community.

A special thanks to our event sponsor, Guthrie, for their generous support and commitment to our shared vision.

Breakfast Box Giveaway Recap

Our program Seven Valleys Food Rescue hosted a breakfast box giveaway at the end of March that was a smash hit! Our Nourish NY support allowed us to give over 3,800 pounds of food away, all while supporting both large and small farms in the area. A BIG thank you to all our volunteers who helped us pack the boxes and distribute the goods for this event!

Doulas on the Loose!

Your local doulas from the Doula Partnership have had a busy month! Our program leads spent time educating the community about birth doulas at YWCA's Girls' Day Out, Cortland Counts, and the Business Showcase. Additionally, between new referrals coming in for Partnership doulas, hosting an all-county Doula Partnership meeting, kicking off dedicated social media pages, and receiving additional funding for our upcoming postpartum doula training, we have continued to lay the foundation for purposeful maternal support that will serve our community for years to come.

Don't forget to follow us on social media to stay updated with all things doula — you can now catch us on Facebook and Instagram!
