SVFR Hosts Syracuse Neighbors
A few weeks back, our food rescue program, Seven Valleys Food Rescue (SVFR), was visited by staff and supporters of our neighboring food policy group, Syracuse Onondaga Food System Alliance (SOFSA). The goal of the visit was to take a tour of the SVFR hub and to share with SOFSA how our program operates, as SOFSA and Syracuse University are knee-deep in a food rescue pilot project called Onondaga Food Rescue Network (OFRN). (Wahoo!)
It was a delight to be able to host neighbors and fellow workers who are pulling in the same direction we are here in Cortland— toward decreasing food waste and better supporting our food-insecure community members.

During this visit, we also had the honor of Spectrum 1 joining us for the tour and to connect with SVFR and SOFSA leaders about food rescue and food insecurity in the Central New York area. To sum up their discovery, you can simply say there is an ample amount of work to engage in for each of our communities, but like all good things, it is not without its challenges or difficulties.
